I am proud to start a new section on my irregularly posted blog titled asshole of the week (because I couldn’t use naughty words on my previous blog which had a name that was similar to the watcher).
I was going to give the award to the principal who suspended a student for giving a pro marijuana speech in a religious school after his teacher had approved the topic, but I could not find the article.This week’s asshole of the week award is a tie
The first lucky recipient is the unnamed cowboy type who is standing next to a white buffalo that he allegedly shot. Now don’t me wrong. I am not a vegan, and I am not a total animal rights nut. I am not against killing animals for food; many animals kill animals to eat as well. However, I think that shooting such a gorgeous, harmless animal unnecessarily and standing next to it like a trophy is a subhuman act. I also cringed when I saw the pic of Trump’s idiot son posing next to a beautiful tiger carcass. It may have been legal but it was distasteful and morally reprehensible.

White buffalos (I think this is true of most white variations of species that aren’t normally white) are comparatively rare, and some Native Americans even believe that white buffalo (or bison as they are more properly called) brought good luck.
Believe it or not the staunch gun rights advocate Ted Nugent even wrote a song about the white buffalo and Natives called Great White Buffalo which is surprisingly thoughtful and respectful of the subject.
My second asshole of the week is Rick Tyler, the proud, independent candidate running for Tennessee’s 3rd Congressional District. Part of Tyler’s campaign was a billboard that read Make America White again, a variation of Trump’s slogan Make America Great Again. I would argue that Tyler’s slogans are just a further and natural extension of Trump’s hate mongering and fear tactics. Tyler was on the Alan Combs show on 820 am last night, and he was unsuccessful in his attempts to sidestep charges of bigotry.
If that wasn’t ‘t bad enough Tyler’s people put up a sign which quoted Martin Luther King’s “ I have a Dream” phrase surrounded by confederate flags. Some of Tyler’s other campaign billboards including one against race mixing can be found here.
